Play Orbit is a multidisciplinary creative studio led by Von Robinson and Miho Suzuki-Robinson. Inspired by Eva Zeisel, one of their mentors, they adopted her 'playful search for beauty' design philosophy and bring a playful "deep design" approach to complex issues. Grounded in systems thinking, deep ecology and the principles of living systems, they collide ideas and matter, turning out strategies, experiences, processes, objects, films and music that fit within the larger system and contribute to health and happiness...and they think fitness is beauty.
Von and Miho are also involved in mentoring and educating the next generation of designers and creative thinkers. Von is currently a professor of product design at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI and has also engaged with the University of Michigan's School of Public Health, School of Information and Stamps School of Art & Design and with the Parsons School of Design. Miho managed a UX design program for the University of Michigan's School of Information and has also engaged with the University's School of Public Health and with the College for Creative Studies.
Von has facilitated workshops at Mayo Clinic’s Mayo Transforms conference, workshopped with IDEO on numerous projects, including Patient Experience: Empathy and Innovation Summit at Cleveland Clinic. He writes and lectures on design (visit our Teaching page for a list of Von’s talks)
