Anything we design for the patient room needs to contribute to better health outcomes and shorter lengths of stay. To that end, we had 3 goals for our Ellie Collection:
Design seating that addresses the holistic needs of multidimensional people (physical, cognitive, spiritual/aspirational, emotional); preserve the dignity of patients; send a natural invitation for care partners and patients to engage, belong and be empowered.
Guided by nature, who’s primary creative forces are flow and erosion, we crafted a biophelic design language of flowing curved curved contours that complete on themselves, embrace users, and are easy for the eye and hand to to follow. We know from research that this language can reduce stress, heart rate and blood pressure, for faster recovery and improved cognitive function. And we know from experience that serving the dignity and holistic health of people typically improves the health and sustainability of the systems they and we share.
